College Prowler Site Wins Second Design Award

November 13, 2007

Elliance recently received a Silver W3 Award, in the Guides category, for its design of the College Prowler Web site, www.collegeprowler.com.

This is the second award this site was honored with in just two months. Earlier in the year, it won a STEP Inside Design award, which was published in the Sept./Oct. ’07 issue of STEP Inside Design magazine.

College Prowler creates college guides written by and for college students. The site reflects the youthful energy of the brand, while at the same time being information-rich and usable.

“College guides have traditionally been provided by boring corporate entities,” said Edward Chin, an interactive designer at Elliance. “We wanted to differentiate our client by creating a site that the competition wouldn't be able to get away with.”

The W3 Awards honor creative excellence on the Web, and recognize the creative and marketing professionals behind award-winning Web sites, Web videos and online marketing programs. The W3 is the first major Web competition to be accessible to the biggest agencies, the smallest firms, and everyone in between.

This year, the W3 received more than 2,700 entries from top companies and agencies worldwide, and the quality of work was outstanding, making this year’s competition very competitive.

W3 is sanctioned and judged by the International Academy of the Visual Arts (IAVA), an invitation-only body consisting of top-tier professionals from a “Who’s Who” of acclaimed media, advertising and marketing firms. Entries are judged based on a standard of excellence determined by IAVA. To uphold a high standard of excellence, a category may have multiple winners, or may have no winners at all. Entries are scored on a 10-point scale by the judges.
